    Description

Richard M. "Ric" Chashoudian (1931-2012) first competed at a dog show with an Airedale Terrier in 1946 at that age of 15 years. Ric bred champion show dog Airedales and Wire Fox Terriers for over 60 years. He became a professional dog show handler and then began judging AKC dog shows. He also judged dogs in many foreign countries during the course of his judging career. He was widely considered one of the foremost authorities on Terrier breeds. During the course of his career in dogs, he began to model dogs, first with plaster-type models and then moving into resin models. He also sculpted impressive limited edition bronze dog figurines. His work is absolutely outstanding, with fine attention to detail, show dog conformation and generally presented in show ring poses. I was lucky enough to know Ric and saw him in the dog show ring countless times. I began to collect his early dog figurines due to their exemplary quality and his burgeoning status as a dog artist/sculptor.
This is the Chashoudian Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, an unusually scarce piece. It is presented in show pose, with head slightly turned, and outstanding coat detail and coloring. Signed under the stomach and dated 1980. A large figurine, it measures 7 1/2" tall by 8" long. Outstanding condition.
No chips, cracks, repairs or restorations. Please enlarge and examine all photos carefully as they are considered part of the description.
