This listing is for a Vintage Zenith AM/FM Wood Cabinet Tube Radio S-58040 that was acquired from a person cleaning out his barn in Vermont. My research tells me that it is an early 1960's radio with the retro 50's cabinet design. I tested the unit and it powered on, and after the tubes warmed up (less than a minute) I was able to tune in both AM/FM stations without any issues. The sound was loud and clear, although a bit more muffled than the ultra clear modern speakers we have grown accustomed to. There is just a little bit of scratching when adjusting the volume, but not too major. There is a small dark stain of some sort on the fabric that covers the speaker, but I am afraid that attempting to over clean it may result in damaging the old fabric. There is a fair amount of scratching and some fading on the top of the radio, and some scratching and fading around the sides, but no major damage that I can see (see pics). Feel free to ask questions, and I hope that this nice, vintage radio will find a home that will really appreciate its history. Thanks!
