ANTIQUE YELLOW WARE ROCKINGHAM GLAZED WALL PLAQUE

Description

Here is an outstanding piece of Rockingham glazed yellow ware that I believe might be quite rare. It is an elegant molded piece which must be a wall decoration. The center scene depicts 3 people in Asian attire that appear to be having a meal. Around the well there are groups of molded fruit and flowers. The ornate edge has molded shells at top and bottom and on the 4 corners. On the reverse are kiln stilt marks and a couple of globs of excess glaze.
This piece measures about 10 7/8" X 8 1/2" x 1 3/8" high. Condition is very good but there are 3 places with very small nicks on the tips of the outer rim. I do see some crazing in the well of the piece.
I could find no references for any similar pieces in any of my yellow ware books. You will be very pleased to be the new owner of this great item.
