Here's a Zenith 4R regenerative receiver manufactured in 1923 by the Chicago Radio Laboratory, which right around the time this set was made changed its corporate name to Zenith and went on to build many if not most of the very best radios of the 20th century.
Condition is excellent, and the radio suffers from none of the problems that typically afflict these early Zenith sets. Most notably, there is NO FROZEN OR DAMAGED POT METAL.
The panel is not warped or otherwise compromised; the original panel nomenclature is still legible and has not been enhanced with either a lacquer stick or chalk; the cabinet finish is original, and the Zenith decal on top is nearly perfect; the knobs and dials all turn easily and don't suffer from broken or missing pointers; the tuner is pristine, and the wire wrapped around the form is not water-stained or covered with mold; all of its original paper labels are intact and legible; the original wood retaining strip is still in place and undamaged along the lower edge of the panel, with the original screws; all of the panel screws are original, and the two eyelets in the upper corners are still there; the rear door that still springs back into position when it's released, and the door's original pull is still in place.
All three AF transformers are original, and the first 2 transformers test good. The 3rd transformer has an open winding. The radio comes with a complete set of good 01A tubes.
